The Boy that Hummed
Elijah was an adorable young boy.
He was six years old with a beautiful olive complexion and mahogany brown eyes.
His eyes and gaze were that of an old soul.
He was a beautiful site to see.
His parents Noah and Isabella were beautiful too.
Noah had wavy blonde hair with green eyes and Isabella, chestnut brown hair, and mahogany brown eyes.
Elijah had the looks of his exotic looking mother.
Prior to his birth, Noah and Isabella had a fairy tale marriage.
They travelled the world and had promising careers.
They both were fortunate to have genes from stunning parents.
All eyes were on them when they walked in public holding hands affectionately.
A charming, beautiful couple indeed.
They decided to wait a few years before deciding to have children.
Noah was a certified public accountant with one of the big three accounting firms and Isabella was a multilingual translator at a renown international bank.
When Noah was born, they adoringly gave all the attention they could to him.
The couple took him along on vacation.
This young boy saw parts of the world and experienced things that many people have not.
Nationally within the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, and African countries.
Amusement parks, playgrounds, and extracurricular activities.
Noah and Isabella gave the world to him for his young eyes to see and experience.
Elijah attended the best pre-k and after school programs in New York, excelling in all subjects he was assigned.
He was a sponge when it came to education, he absorbed it all.
Many parents observed and maliciously commented that Elijah did not resemble his father very much.
This came to the attention of Noah via gossip.
As a result, whether rational or not, made him wonder whether Elijah was his legitimate child.
Mind you, Isabella loved Noah and was always faithful.
Gossip can be vicious usually due to envy.
One day, Noah decided to have a sit down conversation with Isabella at home.
He spoke the unspeakable.
He asked her if she was ever unfaithful to him.
Isabella was visibly emotional and cried.
How dare he ask such a question.
She loved Noah with all her heart and would not fathom such an act.
It took several minutes to compose herself.
Isabella screamed at her husband for daring to ask her if she was loyal to him and the sanctity of marriage.
Enraged, she told him no!
That if he ever had any doubts, she would have their child undergo a DNA test.
Noah started to cry and shared the gossip that was being spread around.
He asked her for forgiveness for ever doubting her loyalty.
Little did they know, Elijah overheard the screaming, crying and what was discussed from his bedroom.
The young boy’s reaction was to run out of his bedroom and innocently confront his parents.
Are you my daddy, asked Elijah?
Both parents hugged him and told him that everything was fine.
With tears in his eyes, Noah and Isabella took him to his bedroom to lie him to sleep. Elijah closed his eyes and feigned sleep.
When both parents left the room, Elijah started to cry.
He hummed one of his favorite songs, “Three Blind Mice”.
Elijah repeatedly hummed until he fell asleep.
This was an episode in life he would never forget.
The humming continued throughout his life when going to bed.
The boy that hummed.
Humming was his comfort when going to bed.
That one night episode marked his life. “Three Blind Mice”
The boy that hummed.
